Fellow MTFOA Members: As your travels take you far away from the thoughts and issues of winter and spring track and your focus is on the 4th of July weekend and the summer months, as your President-Elect, I have a request. Actually I am asking for your help. Some time during the next two months, will you please take a few minutes to reflect on your organization and what you believe it can do differently to better serve you. As you think about MTFOA please remember that all of you, as members, make up our organization. All of you have individual skills and talents that, if you are willing to invest them, could be used for the betterment of MTFOA. What I'm really trying to say is that your organization needs your help. I see my role as President to listen to your concerns and recommendations and then to lead a coordinated and productive effort, using available human resources, to address these issues and to work with all those who are willing to bring about an organization better prepared to meet the needs of current and future members. The first step of a race is always the hardest but lots of what we do is also about the end of the race. Your first step is to think about this subject and then to share some thoughts and reflections with me. Don't forget to share what skills and talents that you can and will be willing to offer to bring about desired change. With the help of our webmaster, Paul Williams, a new email account has been established for contacting the President of MTFOA. It is mtfoapresident@gmail.com. I will compile and consolidate all responses and share them with the Executive Board at our September meeting. We will develop a two-year plan with both short-term and long-term goals and then present it at the Membership Meeting in October. The immediate goal is to be in position for positive and productive activities as soon as possible after you take the first step. Yes, it starts with and is about each of you. For MTFOA to be as successful and beneficial as it can be, I am asking you to get involved. Thank you for your consideration and enjoy your summer months. Chris Lane MTFOA President-Elect PS: For any who are suffering officiating withdrawal, remember the Bay State Games Finals are Saturday, July 9 at Regis College in Weston. MTFOA historically volunteers our services for this meet. If you just want to do one more meet this season, please email me. cpl |
