Cancellation/postponement policy announced

At the direction of the General Membership at the October Meeting, the MTFOA Executive Policy Board was charged with developing a policy on cancellations and postponements.  The text below and attached file contain this policy. It will be submitted to the General Membership for approval at the December Meeting.

Policy Regarding Cancellation/Postponement of Events 

Assigned by the Massachusetts Track and Field Officials Association’s Assigning Commissioner

(REVISED)

   1.              Meet sponsors shall notify the MTFOA Commissioner/MTFOA Negotiator of cancellations and/or postponements as soon as a possible.

2.              The MTFOA Commissioner/MTFOA Negotiator shall notify members of cancellations and or postponements either by phone or MTFOA website.

3.              Should a meet be canceled or postponed more than two hours before the scheduled starting time, officials will receive no compensation.

4.              Should a meet be canceled or postponed less than two hours before the scheduled starting time, officials shall be paid 50% of the negotiated fee for their services.

5.              Should an event be canceled and/or suspended after the start of competition, officials shall be paid the full amount of the negotiated fee.

6.              Officials may voluntarily waive the payment of the negotiated fee on an individual basis.

7.              Officials choosing to waive their fee shall do so in writing on a form available on the MTFOA website. The form must be submitted to the MTFOA Secretary-Treasurer within seven days of the originally scheduled date of the canceled meet.
