1. At the recent USATF Annual Meeting, several MTFOA members were selected to work at USATF National Championships in 2021
They include:
Indoor Nationals - Nicole Bullock (throws, Chief), Pat Ronan (Pole Vault)
U20 (Under-20, formerly called "Junior) - Joe Bullock (Throws)

2.  The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) 2020 rule book will be used for competitions in 2021.

3. Refresh with this on conducting or working with a "long throws" event by reviewing this USATF clinic presentation material

Looks like masks will need to be worn for the foreseeable future. Have received numerous requests for MTFOA specific masks for Officials to wear to Track meets. Need to hit 100 units from the group for a minimum order. Please email your orders to me and include - Name, Address, and Quantity.

This is a double layer fabric mask with adjustable ear holes. The MTFOA logo with the reversible design is sublimated into the fabric. One size fits all.
Cost is $7/mask plus $! shipping/handling. Feel free to order more than 1, and we can combine colors to hit the 100 unit minimum. ORDER DEADLINE THIS WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 23RD - THERE WILL BE NO EXTRA MASKS AVAILABLE

5. A message from the president

Seasons greetings and Happy Holidays to my fellow MTFOA members. Just a quick note to check in with you and to state some recent updates.

First, I'd like to thank our vice president - Mark Young - for conducting the recent general meeting in my absence. Please review the minutes from that meeting if you haven't done so already.

Second, I want to wish continued health to our members and their families. Covid-19 has affected some of our members and their close ones and we wish those folks a speedy recovery.

Third, I want to inform you about the recent and ongoing MSTCA meets being held at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. These meets have been okayed by the Mass. EEA and will be contested throughout this winter. As an independent contractor, it's your choice if you want to work these meets. One of our members recently brought to the E-board’s attention that these meets do not meet at least one condition of section 12 (officials apparel) of the MTFOA regulations under our bylaws. This inquiry does have merit.

Therefore, until the E-board can meet to amend or revise the regulations, we can't allow officials to wear our uniforms at these meets. The current E-board will look at this matter expediently and get back to the membership as soon as possible. Let me be also clear that this action is in no way attempting to put a wedge between the great partnership we have with MSTCA. It's not uncommon to have bylaws and regulations updated - it's happened before with previous MTFOA E-boards.

Last, as mentioned in the last general meeting, we hope some of the indoor track season will be salvaged and commenced at the end of February. Here's hoping that will still happen.

Stay safe and all the best,

Steven R. Keyes
MTFOA President
