Second Change in Schedule UMASS Lowell

 Coaches and Officials

First, thank you for your patience throughout the many changes and updates. We have some more updates due to weather as well as an updated schedule of events.

To ensure we can have as much melt as possible the running events will begin at 10AM. In terms of time schedule we will be moving to a rolling schedule. Athletes may check in at any time for their events. Make sure they at least check-in 3 events prior to their own.

We will now be throwing Javelin off of our Javelin runway located next to the Hammer circle. When the Hammer is finished Javelin will follow. As of right now we have 20 Women Hammer throwers and 19 Men’s Hammer throwers. We’d like to get to one section of each gender for the Hammer. If you have any scratches for this event please let us know.

With the predicted weather on Friday, UMass Lowell had decided to move their Friday events to Saturday

Attached is their new order of events-time schedule

Friday April 16

Saturday April 17

Sunday April 18

1. Spring Officiating Opportunities

  • Mike still has openings this weekend both on Saturday and Sunday. If you are have become available and interested in working please contact him at 978-457-3153.

President's Message

     - The deadline for nominations for the e-board is April 30, 2021. We are looking to fill three openings.

     - MSTCA Spring 2021 meets are being assigned for the time being by their organization. Please contact their offices if you would like to work their meets.

     - Although the deadline has passed for nominees for "official of the year" - the MIAA is still taking submissions for nominees. Please let me know if you would like to nominate a fellow official for the 2020 -2021 Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor track seasons.

     - Although we've been kicking around the idea of having a Fall in person professional development clinic - it's something we are still considering. Getting the facility is not an issue - it's just whether we can do it in 2021 or have to wait until Fall of 2022.

   - Lastly, I took a tour today (4/9/21) of the new New Balance facility in Brighton where the new indoor track and indoor theatre will be. The facility will open March 1, 2022 and I'd to thank Mr. AJ Holzherr, facility manager for the tour. New Balance Development is excited about MTFOA & USATFNE eventual involvement in the facility.

Continued good health to all our MTFOA members - stay safe!
