General meeting, pre-winter clinic on Thursday

posted Dec 4, 2017, 2:22 PM by Paul Williams
All MTFOA Officials need to be prepared for all of their officiating assignments. What each member needs to do varies. However, all members need, at the very least, to review the rules and procedures while others may need more in depth activities. The MTFOA Professional Development Committee has developed a range of activities to be presented at the Pre-Winter Season Clinic. This Clinic will have something for both veteran and newer members.

The clinic will be preceded by a brief general membership meeting. The meeting and clinic will be held at Reggie Lewis Center, beginning at 7pm.
There will be three rotations lasting 25 minutes for the professional development clinic.
Everything USATF   Steve Vaitones & Justin Kuo
Steve and Justin from USATF New England will be discussing everything you need to know about USA Track & Field and how to become a USATF official. They will discuss topics from the local as well as national chapter. Please come prepared to ask questions.
Ask The Veterans  Chris Lane & Tommy Meagher
Every official at one time or another has been perplexed by a situation or a rule application. This will be an opportunity to ask two veteran officials what they would do or how they would handle the situation? You are urged to prepare and submit an index card with an outline of your situation in advance so that it will be addressed in the time available. Limited to the events on the track.
LJ/TJ  Board Plasticine application  Rick Lajoie & Steven Keyes
Rick Lajoie, certified USATF official, will be here to demonstrate the application of the material Plasticine to the long/triple jump foul boards. This is a special treat having Rick here and you will get to see a behind the scene look at an operation for an event on the national level. Steven Keyes will answer any questions on the back end of this session on the LJ/TJ rules, etc. on the high school, college or professional level.
The by-laws Committee of Dennis Berry, Mark Young and Bill Jennings invite any interested members to a meeting after the clinic this Thursday.  They will go over suggestions received so far and discuss any other amendments that should be considered. All members are invited to make any suggestions for amendments at any time. Please forward them to Dennis Berry at
