1. Dave Johns can still use a couple of people for the Boston College Meet on Jan 20. If you are available please reach out to him. davejohns@comcast.net (978-764-1880) ASAP. It is a Noon start and runs until approx. 9:00 pm.

2. MSTCA for USATF Officials

Reminder that USATF Certification, while running from 2021 through the end of 2024 (certification is for an Olympiad), also requires officials to remain "3 step compliant' beyond simply completing the rules review.

This means

- Annual USATF membership - not just for the year completing the rules review

- USATF Background Screening - this is good for 2 years from application.

- Current SafeSport training including annual refresher courses (Core course done in year 1, 20 minute refreshers each of the next 4 years)

The above are accomplished via one's USATF membership account profile.

Login at usatf.sport80.com to verify your expiration dates and renew pieces.

Officials should also be receiving reminders for these 30 days from expiration.

The New Balance Grand Prix meet, as a World Athletics Series event, requires full current certification of all working that meet.

All officials working the Boston Marathon are expected to be fully certified as well.

Certification is also required for selected other meets and for National record approvals

(One US masters records broken locally in 2022 was ineligible for approval for not having the minimum of 3 valid USATF officials)

*** Important notice on Membership renewal

Due to the sharp rise in insurance costs related to all aspects of all sports (accident, liability, SafeSport related), and companies leaving the industry, USATF individual membership fees are increasing on _January 15_.

If you have yet to renew membership for 2023, do so before January 15 at $40/year to save on costs.

Any official looking to maintain USATF certification for the coming years will significantly benefit from the 4 year membership.

The new fees will be $55/year; there will be a discounted multi-year officials fee (not yet announced)

For help with the above pieces, contact Steve Vaitones at office@usatfne.org
